List of Coffee Farmers

At Ostova Coffee, our mission is to shine a spotlight on the extraordinary farmers who pour their hearts and souls into growing the world’s finest coffee. Each of their stories is a testament to their dedication, passion, and the unique landscapes they call home. We invite coffee farmers to share their journeys and products by submitting their farm details on our Showcase Your Products page. Here are some of the incredible individuals behind our coffee selections:

Our Coffee Farmers

1. Abebe from Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia

Meet Abebe, a third-generation coffee farmer in his late 50s. He’s spent his whole life on the family farm in the lush Gedeo zone of Guji, Ethiopia. His family’s been growing coffee here for decades, and they’ve turned it into an art form. Abebe’s Ethiopia Guji Super Grade Coffee is like a symphony in your cup, with vibrant acidity and complex flavors that make your taste buds dance.

Abebe’s farm, perched at elevations between 2000 and 2100 meters, has rich, mineral-dense soils and a perfect climate for coffee. The farm covers 20 hectares, filled with heirloom coffee plants. Abebe’s dedication to traditional farming and sustainable practices isn’t just good for the planet; it’s his legacy. His farm is a community hub, providing jobs and a sense of pride for locals. Every cup of Abebe’s coffee is a labor of love and tradition.

2. Isabella from Tarrazú, Costa Rica

Isabella, in her early 40s, has been farming coffee since she was a teenager. Her farm in Tarrazú, Costa Rica, sits between 1800 and 1900 meters. This high altitude and cool climate slow down the ripening of the cherries, making them dense and full of flavor. The rich volcanic soil adds even more depth to the beans, resulting in our Costa Rica La Loma Coffee.

Isabella’s farm spans 15 hectares and is a model of sustainability. She’s always experimenting with new techniques to make her coffee even better. Her double anaerobic washed process is a testament to her innovative spirit. Isabella’s farm is not just about producing great coffee; it’s about preserving the environment and ensuring a bright future for the next generation of farmers. Her coffee reflects the rich heritage and promising future of Costa Rican coffee farming.

3. Li Wei from Yunnan Highlands, China

Li Wei, in his late 30s, is on a mission to put Yunnan coffee on the map. Growing up in a region famous for tea, he saw the potential for coffee and decided to go for it. His farm, covering over 30 hectares in the Yunnan highlands, is a blend of traditional techniques and modern practices. The result? Our Yunnan Catimor Merry Blossom Coffee, a brew that’s as unique as it is delicious.

Li Wei’s farm benefits from Yunnan’s moderate climate and fertile soils. He’s all about sustainability, using permaculture principles to keep the soil healthy and the ecosystem diverse. Li Wei is also a community leader, providing training and resources to fellow farmers. His dedication to quality and community makes his coffee stand out. Every sip of his coffee tells the story of Yunnan’s rich culture and bright future.

4. Carlos from Trujillo, Colombia

Carlos, in his early 60s, is the backbone of Trujillo’s coffee scene in Colombia’s Cauca department. His family has been farming this land for generations, and Carlos’s deep connection to the soil shows in every bean. His farm, covering 25 hectares, benefits from rich volcanic soils and ideal growing conditions.

Our Colombia Cauca Castillo Coffee is a testament to Carlos’s meticulous care and innovative techniques. He uses a double anaerobic washed process with thermal shock treatment to enhance the coffee’s flavors. Carlos’s dedication to quality and sustainability is a model for other farmers in the region. He’s not just growing coffee; he’s preserving his heritage and sharing his knowledge to ensure a bright future for Colombian coffee farming.
